1. Please describe yourself
Ever since I was in school, I have tried to build a career to become an engineer who will serve the country of Malaysia. In order to achieve my goal, I took a Diploma in Civil Engineering and 3 years after that, I continued my studies to a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at UiTM.
I studied hard until I got excellent results in my studies. I have 3 years of experience working in the field of civil engineering in the private sector where I was involved in building development projects. I am confident, with the combination of my academics and the experience I have, I am able to shoulder the responsibilities given if I succeed in getting a job in this public sector.
2. What Preparations Did You Make For This Interview?
The preparation I made for this interview was that I looked for information about it on the Internet, read interview guidebooks, asked friends who had interview experience, read current issues in the newspaper, and various other preparations I made. It doesn't only include the external questions, I also prepare mentally because I know that this interview is very challenging and highly competitive. Only the best will succeed, and that's why I must be the BEST.
3. Do you like to work alone or in a group?
I easily get along with anyone. I am a person who can tolerate and respect the work decisions of others around me. Working in a group, I really like it because it can give more ideas to form the best idea. I also don't mind if I work alone because my efforts will make me more creative, innovative and more independent.
4. What Are Your Weaknesses?
My weakness is that I like to work overtime because I want to make sure that the work I do is done early. Ever since I was at university, I like to finish my work early so that I reduce my socializing time with friends. But, when my work is completely ready in advance, I can do a new work without pressure and maybe I have more time to study something new. Maybe this weakness of mine can be improved so that I can work brilliantly and also be able to socialize healthily. Either way, work alone without socializing is also not good in everyday life.
5. How Many Times Have You Been Called to Attend a Government Interview?
For your information, this interview is my 5th interview in the public sector. Previously, I attended 4 interviews and 2 times successfully became a reserve candidate. And today, I am confident that I will succeed in this 5th attempt. I will keep trying until I succeed in becoming a civil servant.
6. Why Should We Hire You to Work With the Government?
In my view, I feel that I am the most qualified person to take on this offered position. I do not deny that there may be other candidates who have abilities comparable to me in taking on this task, but based on my academic qualifications, experience, interest, and high fighting spirit in my soul, it definitely motivates me to give my best for the organization or department I will join.
7. Since You Just Graduated The Last Few Months, Do You Have Work Experience?
Even though I just graduated, I didn't just sit quietly and do nothing. For now, I spend my time helping my father in his grocery store. I can also earn extra money while helping the family manage the grocery store. While working in my father's grocery store, I learned how to manage the purchase of goods, manage business accounts, and also learned how to communicate with many customers. From the following jobs, I also gained experience in carrying out work, dealing with people, managing data and so on.
8. What Do You Feel Makes You More Qualified For This Position Than Other Candidates?
I don't want to look down on other candidates, but I have experience in this field. I am also a highly motivated person, committed to work, and I will work hard to achieve goals. In addition, I am also a person who is easy to work with, tolerant, and easy to listen to the views of others.9. You Have a Diploma, Why Ask for This SPM Qualified Position?
Even though I have a diploma, it is not wrong for me to apply for a position that requires an SPM qualification. Serving in the public sector is my dream, and when given the opportunity I have to take it. Based on my reference on the SPA website, a candidate can apply for a position in the public sector that requires qualifications one level lower than his qualifications. Those who have a diploma, can apply for positions that require an SPM qualification. Furthermore, I found that many civil servants who have a diploma certificate serve in positions that require SPM or a certificate only such as Administrative Assistants, Technicians and so on. And I am confident that I can handle the tasks given when I work later.
10. Why Do You Change Jobs Often?
I often change my job because I like new experiences and at the same time I like challenges.
11. As an engineer, apart from technical expertise, what other skills do you need to have in order to build an excellent career and enable you to become a versatile engineer? What Initiative Do You Want To Do?
Apart from technical expertise, other skills that I need to have in order to build an excellent career is the need for me to master soft skills such as communication skills, creative thinking and being proactive in whatever I do. The initiative that I will do certainly starts with seeking knowledge either in the form of training or reading. Then it must be followed up with action.
12. Why Apply to Work as a Government Employee. Why Not Private? What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Working With The Government Compared To The Private Sector?
Working in the public sector has been my ambition since I was a child and working in the public sector is a source of pride for me because I am able to serve the country, nation, and religion. I chose to work in this sector because I will continue to have the opportunity to increase my knowledge, especially the latest knowledge in the field of work that I am engaged in with seminars, workshops, courses, assessment exams, and many more that are really valuable to me that I could not get out there. This will make me a public servant who is not only excellent, but also efficient and highly knowledgeable. In addition, I also have the opportunity to continue my studies at a higher level than the qualifications I have now with the help and support of the government which in turn can contribute to the public service itself. There is no denying that by working in the public sector, it guarantees the future for me and my family. This is because there is no risk of being fired if there is an economic downturn like in the private sector. In this sector there are also opportunities for promotion and salary as well as other advantages such as maternity leave, annual leave, EPF, easy to make bank loans, housing allowance and others.

My first action, I would listen to the reprimand carefully and with an open mind. I think that their remarks are true because they are experienced and familiar with the work. Therefore, they will definitely be able to identify any deficiencies in my work. I will review my work and identify where it went wrong. As a corrective measure, I will discuss with my subordinates and refer to my superiors to ensure that all deficiencies can be corrected to an optimal level.
14. As a person who has worked in a private company in your field, how can you use that experience in the public service if you are accepted for this position?
As someone who has served in the private sector, I think that experience can be applied in the public service. Among them is through a period of private work that often works overtime to ensure quality output or work results, on time and also save costs. As we know, private companies are very concerned about profit and that is why they make various ways to get higher profits. I think as public sector employees, we also need to behave like that, where we focus on the best profit for the government without neglecting aspects of the quality of the work produced.
15. How Do You Absorb Stress While Working?
I work hard and always make sure that the work done is completed before the time. I consider it as a challenge and when I successfully overcome the challenge, it is a meaningful victory for me. In addition, I consider challenges to be positive so the existing pressure will be reduced with such an assumption.
16. What are the Basic Things in Solving Any Problem That Arrises at Your Workplace?
The basic things in solving a problem are first, understand the problem, recognize the cause of the problem, and finally the option to solve the problem. That is in a nutshell the things that need to be taken into account in solving problems at work.
17. How Do You Solve a Problem?
The bottom line – investigate the problem thoroughly, don't make hasty decisions, refer to those with experience, take proactive steps so the problem doesn't recur.
18. Before I End This Interview Session, Do You Have Any Questions?
Sir, I am among the thousands out there who hope to serve in the public sector. I realize I am not the smartest, the best, but if you give me the opportunity to serve in the public sector, I will use this opportunity to improve my weaknesses and learn to be the best. Yes, I am willing to accept it. At least I gained experience and still had the opportunity to be absorbed on a regular basis. It is not easy to enter the career field in the public sector, so I will not miss the opportunity that appears in front of my eyes.
20. Are you willing to serve in Sabah or Sarawak/Inland?
Yes, I am willing! As a civil servant who serves the country, I am willing to be placed anywhere the government directs. I will also make sure my family will move with me if necessary. From the beginning, I was well aware that these civil servants must be willing to work wherever they are directed.
21. What are the current issues that are hotly talked about in the mass media?
What is currently being talked about is the issue of the political crisis in Syria where after the uprising of the people in Egypt, now in Syria there is an uprising of the people that has continued for several months. This is due to the Syrian people who rose up to demand justice and also rejected the cruel dictatorship of Basyar Assad which started his father's rule again until when Basyar ruled, more than 60 000 Syrians were killed by using their troops. They will kill anyone who does not support them. This is a very cruel act.
22. What do you think about the increase in the price of goods?
If the increase is due to the increase in the price of raw materials and oil such as the global oil market, I can accept it. But if the increase is caused by monopolizing factions such as during the festive season and salary increases, it is something that should not happen at all. The government needs to monitor this increase that shouldn't happen.
23. What are the Hot Issues in the Country Today?/State Any Current Issues You Know?
The issue that is hotly discussed today is the issue of the word Allah swt, where there is a demand from the Christian side demanding to use the word "Allah" in their bible that they want to write in the Malay language version. However, the fact is that this issue has already been resolved before, but it was brought up all the time. The National Fatwa Council in the 82nd conference has decided that the Kalimah of Allah can only be used by Muslims and anyone who wants to use the Kalimah of Allah must refer to the essence of Allah's nature, which is that Allah is One and not to refer to the concept of three divinity called "trinity" ” and when combined the three are called “The Lord”

My opinion on the social phenomenon in Malaysia is that this phenomenon is very serious and should not be taken lightly by any party. This is because it involves the young generation in our country who will inherit this country sometime in the future. Our fate depends on the young generation. Therefore we should carry out efforts that can eradicate this symptom to the root.
